Protect Your Family From Mosquito Born Diseases
Use insect repellents. Repellents like DEET, Picaridin, oil of lemon eucalyptus, and IR3535 should be applied to skin not covered by clothing. Follow product label instructions.
Drain standing water. Mosquitoes breed in standing water. Store items that may collect and hold water upside down, or covered. Drill drain holes in outdoor planters. Keep animal drinking troughs fresh by aerating or changing the water frequently.
Avoid exposure at dawn and at dusk. Mosquitoes tend to bite in the early morning and evening; wear protective clothing and repellent if outside during these hours.
If you are bitten by a mosquito and become ill, see your doctor and mention your exposure. Symptoms develop between 3-14 days after the bite Watch for flu-like symptoms and neurological changes.
